Troop 12 MiniVenture

What's a MiniVenture?
BSA has a tradition of the "High Adventure" - usually a multi-day outing for older Scouts featuring more adventurous activities than a standard weekend campout (or summer camp). Troop 12 has a long history of "DIY" High Adventure trips including white water rafting, Boundary Waters canoe trips and hiking in South Dakota.

During our annual planning meetings, Troop 12 Scouts have shown an interest in something in between a weekend campout and a full-on High Adventure that all Scouts would be eligible to attend. So, we've created the MiniVenture: an extended weekend trip with an exciting destination.

IMPORTANT NOTE: One option may include canoeing/kayaking and will require us to follow the BSA Safety Afloat guidelines which stipulate that paddlers must pass the BSA Swimmers Test with the "Swimmer" classification. Scouts passing with a "Beginner" classification may ride with an Adult who is a "Swimmer." This test will be administered at Summer Camp. Special arrangements may be made to conduct an additional test, if there is interest.
